Remembering the 2009 medical mission

Our mode of transportation from the airport to the orphanage near Jinotega (and everywhere else) is an old yellow school-bus. Kim and Bob (front) will be on this year's trip.

Note: Click on any photograph to see it larger.

Passing through small towns, the marketplaces along the highway are colorful--if somewhat cluttered.
We call this a "pill packing party"-- transferring bulk-packed medicines and vitamins into individual plastic bags for prescription distribution. This is done on Sunday afternoon before clinics begin on Monday.
A visit to the local pulpuria--Nicaragua's version of a convenience store--to buy sodas and snacks.
When the bus can't make it, sometimes you just have to get out and walk.
Two little girls on their way to a clinic stopped a few minutes to watch TV through a doorway.
