A few more memories from 2009

I'm nervous today, going over lists trying to be sure I have everything. Lynda says she woke up in the night thinking of things to remind me not leave behind--my passport, my medicines, chargers for camera batteries, etc. I'm like Santa--making a list and checking it twice--but that's where the similarity ends. Here are a few more photos from the 2009 medical mission.

Typical of any "doctor's office," there's that inevitable "waiting room" experience. At least here you get to wait outdoors.

This clinic took place at a school; students were on some kind of break, so the building was available. Here one of the medical providers consults with a patient with the help of a translator. Part of the expense of the mission is hiring translators to assist in doctor/patient communication.

Sometimes the lines are long, and usually they have formed before we even arrive in the morning.

This truck passing by was headed to market with a load of coffee beans.

It was not unusual to find the country roads we traveled blocked temporarily by herdsmen driving cattle.

Nicaragua is a beautiful country.
