Mission under way: Travel to Nicaragua

We met at Wesley UMC, Bloomington, about 6:00 AM yesterday morning. Rode in the church van to O'Hare in Chicago. Boarded 10:50 flight for Houston, arriving about 1:30. Long layover in Houston. Didn't board the plane to Managua until 5:30; flight left at 6:00. Arrived in Managua shortly about 9:15. No problems going through customs. Loaded luggage into a pick-up truck and ourselves into a van, both provided by Los Cedros. Arrived at the orphanage about 45 minutes later. Photo shows Josh and Margaret and others waiting in the Houston airport.

I told the folks at Trinity Presbyterian I would be wearing my Trinity sweatshirt to "show all those Methodists there's a Presbyterian presence on this mission." Here's the proof. Taken at Houston airport.
This morning we were awake at 6:00, showered and dressed by 6:30 (there was even hot water!), and had breakfast at 7:00. We saw this beautiful bird eating something out of the flowers at the top of a nearby tree. I took it's picture. Looks like some kind of oriole to me.
Breakfast was rice and beans, boiled eggs, bacon, and bananas . . . and coffee. Pretty good. We leave for a 9:00 church service in Managua at about 8:00, so I'm doing this blog in a very short time. I'll post more later. God be with you . . . and also with us.
